Young Boys vs Atalanta

Our prediction for this Champions League match

Young Boys will try to put an end to their four-game losing run in the Champions League when they face Atalanta at their Stadion Wankdorf on Tuesday. The Swiss side have been struggling in the elite competition this term and they face yet another uphill task against the high-flying Italians. In their last meeting in the Champions League the two sides played out a thrilling 3-3 draw, but Atalanta are seen as hot favourites to win this clash. The likes of Conte, Chaiwa, Camara, Janko, Pfeiffer, and Zoukrou are injured for the home side.

The Orobici, on the other hand, aim to build on a 2-0 win over Stuttgart. As Atalanta have a nice chance to climb to top eight in the standings, we are tempted to put our money on Gian Piero Gasperini’s troops. Serbia international Lazar Samardzic is pushing for a start, while the likes of Godfrey, Kolasinac, Scamacca, and Zappacosta remain on the sidelines with injuries for the away team.

How the bookies view it: Young Boys big outsiders

Young Boys – who are one of five teams yet to pick up a point in this season’s Champions League-  are big outsiders at 13/2 (wk777), while the draw is also deemed unlikely at 4/1.

Atalanta are firm 4/11 favourites on Jilipark to bank all three points in Bern on Tuesday night.

Players to watch: Lookman worth a look?

Ademola Lookman netted his ninth goal of the season against Parma on Saturday night. The Nigerian has also notched in each of Atalanta’s two Champions League games away from home this season, making a repeat here an appealing option at 11/8 on 777pub.

I successfully backed Sandro Lauper to be shown a card during Young Boys’ 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa on matchday one. A repeat here could be worth consideration once player card markets have been priced up by the bookmakers.

Predicted line-ups

Young Boys again look set to be without injured quartet Banhie Zoukrou, Mats Seiler, Patric Pfeiffer and Saidy Janko.

Berat Djimsiti, Davide Zappacosta and Sead Kolasinac all missed Atalanta’s 3-1 win at Parma on Saturday and the defensive trio are all expected to sit this one out in the Swiss capital.

Young Boys: Van Ballmoos; Blum, Lauper, Camara, Hadjam; Lakomy, Ugrinic, Imeri; Virginius, Ganvoula, Monteiro

Atalanta: Carnesecchi; De Roon, Hien, Kossounou; Bellanova, Ederson, Pasalic, Ruggeri; De Ketelaere, Lookman; Retegui
